Mall lines up cultural shows, goodies for shoppers

THIS Chinese New Year, Central i-City in Shah Alam is inviting everyone to visit its “House Full of Prosperity”.
As the festive season is a time for togetherness and reunions with loved ones, the mall has lined up a variety of activities, performances and goodies for shoppers. An 8ft tall (2.44m) Golden Prosperity Mouse greets guests at the entrance to the House Full of Prosperity and a grand replica
of an ancient Chinese house will give visitors a feel of what life was like back in the day.

There is also the “Alley of Blossoming Prosperity” filled with colourful flowers to provide a springtime atmosphere. Shoppers will also find family meal deals, new clothes, festive goodies and beauty makeover opportunities along with the chance to redeem exclusive gifts such as specially designed ang pow and limited-edition CNY Eleph bags with a minimum purchase of RM300 and RM800, respectively. Those who spend RM100 in multiple receipts qualify for a chance to win one of 10 shopping sprees worth RM29,000. Visitors will get to meet and greet the God of Prosperity for a sprinkle of luck and enjoy a variety of performances including lion dance, Chinese fusion orchestra, eight majestic drum and wushu. A meaningful Chinese New Year celebration also consists of cultural traditions and customs.

As such, visitors will also get a chance to learn more about traditional Chinese culture which is thousands of years old. The workshops include DIY lion head, Chinese shadow puppet-making, red packet sewing, crepe paper cherry blossom, traditional CNY paper-cutting, Chinese opera fan painting and Chinese calligraphy.
